Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Qayed ("Qayed", "we", "us") collects when you use the Qayed app and website, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. Qayed is a barter-exchange platform — people list items and offers, and request to swap them with other users. We take your privacy seriously and describe our real, current practices below, not generic placeholder language.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information as part of operating Qayed:
- Account information: your name, email address, phone number, and — if you choose to provide them — gender and birthdate.
- Location data: your precise GPS location, but only if you grant the app permission. We use it to show you nearby listings; it is not collected if you deny location access.
- Listing content: photos, descriptions, category and other details you add when you create a listing or offer.
- Chat messages: the content of conversations you have with other users inside the app. Messages in a conversation are visible to the two participants, and to Qayed's support and moderation team when investigating a reported issue.
- Identity verification documents: if you choose to verify your identity, we collect photos of your identification documents. Verification is optional and free, is reviewed manually by our team, and shown on your profile only as plain text ("identity verified") — never as a badge or icon. Verification documents are stored securely and are deleted if you delete your account.
- Payment metadata: when you pay a commission, our payment partner Paymob processes the transaction. Qayed's servers never see or store your full card number — we only receive transaction status and metadata needed to confirm payment.
- Device push-notification tokens: used to deliver notifications about your exchanges, messages, and account activity.
- App usage and analytics events: general usage data (such as screens viewed and features used) that helps us understand and improve the app.
- Qayed AI conversations: if you use the in-app Qayed AI assistant to ask questions about the platform, the text of that conversation is processed by Google's Gemini model, which is the underlying AI provider for this feature.
- Hashed advertising identifiers: we forward a one-way hashed (non-reversible) version of certain user identifiers to TikTok's ad-conversion API, server-side only, for marketing-measurement purposes. We never send a raw, reversible identifier.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to: operate and improve the barter-exchange service; show you relevant nearby listings; enable chat between users who are discussing a potential swap; process the 1% commission once both sides of an exchange agree to complete it; verify identity for users who opt in; respond to support requests and investigate reports of abuse or fraud; send you notifications about your account and exchanges; and measure the effectiveness of our marketing, including through TikTok's ad-conversion API as described above.
3. Who Can See Your Information
Your listing content (photos, description, category) is visible publicly to other Qayed users, as intended for a marketplace listing.
Your phone number, precise address, and social handles are never shown in chat automatically. They stay hidden from the other party until both sides of a specific swap have agreed to it and each has paid their own 1% commission — at that point, contact details unlock automatically for that conversation only.
Chat messages are visible to the two participants in that conversation, and to Qayed's support and moderation team when reviewing a reported conversation.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Third-Party Processors
We work with the following third parties to provide the service, and we name them specifically because each of them processes real user data on our behalf:
- Paymob — Egypt's payment gateway, which processes your commission payments by card or Qayed wallet balance. Paymob handles your full card details; Qayed never stores them.
- Google Gemini — the AI model that powers the Qayed AI assistant. If you chat with Qayed AI, the text of your questions is sent to Gemini for processing.
- TikTok — receives hashed, non-reversible identifiers for ad-conversion measurement, server-side only.
- Supabase — our backend infrastructure provider, used for hosting our database, file storage, and authentication systems.
5. Data Retention & Account Deletion
When you delete your Qayed account, we permanently scrub and anonymize your personal identifying data: your name, phone number, avatar photo, precise location, and any identity-verification documents are deleted or irreversibly de-identified, and your login is permanently disabled.
However, we do not delete the historical record of exchanges you completed, chat messages tied to those exchanges, or payment/commission records. This is a deliberate design choice, common to marketplace and exchange platforms: deleting that shared history would also destroy the other party's own legitimate record of a trade they were part of. What remains after deletion is a de-identified transaction record — it can no longer be linked back to your name, contact details, or profile — kept for legitimate record-keeping, dispute resolution, and to preserve the other party's history.
We retain other data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to comply with legal, tax, or fraud-prevention obligations.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update most account information directly in the app. To request access to or deletion of your data, or to ask any question about this policy, contact us at support@qayed.app.
7. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures — including encrypted connections, access controls, and secure storage through our infrastructure provider Supabase — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
Qayed is not directed at children, and you must meet the minimum age required by the laws of your country to create an account and use the service.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our practices or the law changes. We will update the "last updated" date below, and where changes are material, we will provide additional notice in the app.
10. Contact Us
